No News Is Good News:Message and Delivery

Brief: 3 posters, a3 size, 2:1 format.

1 poster had to be completely a type based poster, 1 is purely image based and the third one will be of both.

We were allowed to use two colours plus stock.

Ideas of gone into this brief ( in my skecth book ) and this is a summary

I used the information I found in the previous research brief and I found this one fact that really interested me.

Every day in the UK 7 million slices of bread get thrown away.

So, I decided that my set of posters would be based on that fact

I also worked out that with that amount of bread, in one year UK wastes 2.5 slices of bread

and that can cover more than twice the area of Ethiopia....

And these are the final results of my posters

No News Is Good News:Research

The brief: create a body of research based upon a headline from a newspaper bought on 17th October 2009.

For this brief. I picked an article: "Buy one get one free later-Tesco changes offer to cut food waste"

So, the concept of this brief is about how super markets are taking actions to help prevent global warming.

I came up with several ideas on how to tackle this. We were asked to present ten and then narrow them down to three.

1. What are big supermarkets doing to reduce consumers waste eg. deals like buy one get one free later

2. Consumers waste and its effect on the environment

3 Are they really carbon conscience?... this is abot whether big super markets actually care or are they using this environmental issue to boost their popularity

After a lot of research. ( articles, journals, facts, WRAP statements ( waste and resources action programme)) We were asked to pick one idea to take to our necxt brief.

I decided, because I found alot of facts on how much wasting food is costing the earth, to take on the idea of consumers waste in the UK.

Colour Theory 2

This week, the whole group were a asked to lay out all our coloured objects according to the colour wheel.

In the second part of the session,in a pari, we picked five objects from our colour group (red) and then a few from the group of our complimentary colour which was green.

We were given a range of coloured papers to use as a background and compare there effects on our coloured objects. What we were expecting were things like, a red colour object would look warmer on a certain coloured paper and colder on another.

These some examples of what we achieved.

Colour Theory 1

We were asked to bring in ten coloured objects and my given colour was red.In the group about 4-6 people were asked bring in the same colour objects.

With my group (red) we were asked to arrange the red objects in a systematic way, either arraning them from dark to bright or etc. We chose to arrange ours from the most blue to the most yellowy red.

I found that the red had so many variables that it was difficult to place some of the objects along out line. Some of the objects were'nt either closer to purple nor closer to yellow but was tinted so it looked more pink or just lighter.

The second task was to pick ten objects from all the red ones and match each one to a pantone and this is what we came up with

Addidas Hoodie-Pantone 711

Apple-Pantone 180 c

Duck Tape- Pantone 7426 c

Hair Spray- Pantone 206 c

Bag-Pantone 7428 c

Ribbon-Panton 216 c

Lip Gloss-Pantone 711 c
Candle- Pantone 7428 c
Glue Lid- Pantone 032 c
